SAS Water have ensured the smooth running of all water safety needs at the Stoke Ski Centre.
While water safety may not be the first thing that springs to mind at a dry ski slope, the Stoke Ski Centre uses a water sprinkler system to ensure skiers get a great surface to practice on.
As with all water systems, the sprinkler system represents a legionella risk and centre staff called on SAS Water for expert advice.
Facility Operations Director Lewis Pendleton-Briers said: “We are required by law to have Legionella Controls in place and we turned to SAS Water for support. Lizzie (SAS Water’s Managing Director) and the team were brilliant. She spoke to the Health and Safety Executive on our behalf and came up with a fully compliant solution to ensure we re1main fully compliant with the law and manage any future water safety risks.
“Lizzie was understanding of our limitations as a small club and managed the whole process quickly and efficiently. We couldn’t have asked for a better or more knowledgeable service, and the result has been excellent. SAS Water are extremely professional at all times and are highly effective in their systems of work.
“Legionella is a constant and hidden risk at all businesses. SAS ensure that our staff and systems are fully aware of what we need to do and this leads to peace of mind as we know we are doing all we can to minimise that risk for staff and our customers.”
Lizzie said: “Legionella occurs naturally and is a constant risk. The bacteria that causes it can multiply in man-made aquatic systems and a sprinkler system carries the same risk as more common facilities, such as showers.
“We were able to support Stoke Ski Centre with a risk assessment, implementation of a dosing treatment regime, advice and training.”
SAS Water’s risk assessment s and integrated risk management programmes provide the monitoring regimes required to minimise the possibility of a legionella outbreak.
